Introduction

The purpose is design an Endocrine Map on one side of one page. The map will include the major endocrine glands, the hormone that gland produces and the target organ or tissue that hormone will effect. Also included in the map will be the body response to an hypersecreation of the specific hormone or hyposecreation of the specific hormones.

The Task

The learner will:

  • identify the 9 major endocrine glands;
  • identify the body placement of endocrine glands;
  • identify the hormone synthesized by each gland;
  • identify the target of each hormone;
  • identify the body effect of each hormone;
  • identify the body effect of hypersecretion of each hormone;
  • identify the body effect of hyposecreation of each hormone;
  • create a map with information on one side of one page

Access the following websites fo find your information:
Lutienizing Hormone Deficiency
Thyroid Gland
Growth Hormone
Insulin
Estrogen

The Process

Select paper that is large enough to map all information about the endocrine system on one side of one page.
1. draw image of the human body
2. draw and name endocrine gland in the image in the proper anatomical place
3. word the endocrine hormone synthesized by each gland
4. draw the body organ on tissue that is effected by each hormone
5. draw connection of hormone by way of roads from gland to target tissue
6. word effect of hormone
7. word hypersecreation of hormone
8. word hyposecreation of hormone

Conclusion

The finished product of map will give a visual image of the entire endocrine system on one side of one page. Students will come to understand the endocrine system is a major body regulatory system.
