Parents are the key to respectful and mannerly children.
We support parents in this critical responsibility.

Students and staff focus on a different Respect & Manner each week with discussions and classroom activities. At Meadowlark we appreciate parents who pay special attention to the Respect and Manner of the Week and discuss each with their children.


The Respect and Manners of the Week are as follows:
  • Put downs to others and self are not acceptable
  • Show appropriate assembly manners
  • Speak without swearing
  • Use polite/quiet voice tones
  • Wait for others/take turns
  • Greet people by name
  • Interrupting others is impolite
  • Accept and include others in activities
  • Hats are for outside only
  • Respond when spoken to
  • Use appropriate table manners while eating
  • Show appropriate body language
  • Refrain from HATE statements
  • Hold door for others
  • Volunteer to help
  • Request not demand
  • Listen to others
  • Compliment others
  • Respect others
  • Proper introductions
  • Clean up after yourself
  • Respect others property, belongings and projects
  • Walk around and not through people
  • Gossip is hurtful
  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough
  • Do not bully, threaten or intimidate
  • Speak politely
  • Push chairs in after use
  • Use/accept appropriate and sincere apologies
  • Expect the best from yourself
  • Practice good sportsmanship
  • Treat others the way you want to be treated
  • Use laughter to show happiness, not for cruelty
  • Show an attitude of respectful, active listening with others
