Read Alouds

Read Alouds give children opportunities to experience the pleasure of reading while being introduced to reading concepts, new vocabulary, and rich literature. It also introduces young children to the patterns in books and supports the development of comprehension. During this time the teacher should model fluency and comprehension skills such as making connections, predicting, and summarizing. Several books a day should be read.
