Robert Yellowtail

 

 

     Robert Yellowtail accompanied Chief Plenty Coup to Washington DC. and successfully  defended the Crow Tribes Treaty Rights to retain the boundaries of the Reservation. He later became the chairman of the Crow Tribe. The Yellowtail Dam was named in honor of Mr. Yellowtail. James Welch  

 

James Welch, Blackfeet/ Gross Ventre, was a teacher and writer and recognized for work including the novels, Winter in the Blood and Fools Crow.

 

 

Stone Child

   Stone Child was a leader of a Chippewa tribe that eventually settled in Montana.  His name was incorrectly translated into "Rocky Boy" and the Rocky Boy reservation was named after him.
