Using the ABC Chart

 for Shared Reading

Read the letter chart daily by saying and pointing to the letters and pictures.

For example: say A - alligator /a/ (say letter sound)

 

Read using animal voices 

(squeaky mouse voice/monster voice, etc.)

 Read just lower case letters
 Read just the capitals  Read all the tall letters
 Read just the short letters  Read the rounded letters
Read the vowels

 Start reading the chart at different letters

(For example start reading the chart on the letter that is being focused on or the first letter of the child celebrating a birthday)

Read letters that go below the line Read the consonants

 Sing the chart to different tunes

(For example: Mary had a little lamb, Humpty Dumpty, etc.)
