        This poem can be used to teach color words, sight words (the, is, at), initial consonant sounds, and prepositional phrases.  The animals are cut out and attached to the poster with velcro.  After using the poem for a shared reading, it can be put into a center for students to read interactively.

      A graphic organizer can help students categorize and can help the teacher determine what students know about a subject. It is also a good time to work on letter/sound relationship as the teacher writes the words.
