a Neighborhood McGruff House |
McGruff is a national program that provides a temporary safe place for kids who find themselves in an emergency or frightening situation. It provides a sense of security and a source of help. A participant with McGruff House agrees to help children as they go to and from school and play in the neighborhood. Help can be in the form of calling authorities, reassuring a lost child, or assisting in a dangerous situation. Our Eagle Cliffs neighborhood is in need of some McGruff House participants. If you are someone who is regularly home in the morning and afternoon and likes to help children, please consider becoming a part of the McGruff House Program. The process involves an application, a background check of all adults living in the home, and a yearly review. Our local Volunteer Coordinator with the Billings Police Department is Penni Reed. She can be reached at 698-3098 or reedp@ci.billings.mt.us. Please contact Penni for more information and to begin the application process. Thank you to Boy Scouts Jace and Tyler Foster and Caleb Kincy for providing PTA with this valuable information. Well done, boys!
