Programs of the Education Foundation

The Education Foundation provides opportunities and resources for students and educators in Billings Public Schools through a variety of programs, grants, and scholarships. The overall goal for each of these activities is to promote and sustain excellence in education.
Each year more than 18,000 people attend Saturday Live, a day-long, all-district outdoor carnival benefiting Billings public schools. This family-oriented event brings hundreds of volunteers, parents, educators, and business leaders together for the largest school carnival in the region.
The Foundation encourages summer reading by offering Reading Rocks, a program of reading activities for six weeks during the summer in conjunction with the School District II Free Lunch in the Parks.
The Foundation offers grants to educators in Billings Public School to encourage innovation and excellence in the schools. Applications must demonstrate effective instruction methods that inspire students to learn.
The Foundation manages scholarship funds for both students and educators. Scholarship opportunities range from the Dewey Hansen, Karen Kruger Cox, Anne Lambrecht, Steve and Lorraine Marsh, Bonnie Slough, Leonardo Smith and Peter, Cook Memorial, Frank Family, Melissa Hart Weaver Inspirational Award and Zellah Yegen awards for high school students to the Roger Eble, Kathy Hill, and Jim Rickard awards for educators.
Partners in Education works to develop and enhance partnerships between businesses and schools that create opportunities for students, teachers, and business people.
The Foundation offers alumni directories for Billings West and Senior High Schools and manages a database of graduates. The directories are invaluable resources for planning class reunions and for classmates to stay in touch.
