Beginning Spanish

Students will learn basic Spanish grammar and will be able to form short sentences in reading, writing and conversations. Book: "Spanish Now! Level 1" by Barrons, can be purchased at Borders.

French

Students will learn to speak, read and write in French together through the use of simple activities, written materials and media. As many real world examples as possible will be used including but not limited to travel, food, art and other aspects of French culture. Since French is spoken in countries all over the world, students will be exposed to learning about how the language changes from one country to another and will learn that the study of the language truly is the study of the culture. Reading and writing will be required though the focus will be on the conversation mode.

Japanese Culture And Language

Students will learn about Japanese culture, basic language (greetings, etc.), history and art through discussion, presentations and mixed media. Cooking will also be a part of the course and the venue will change for that evening. This course will present an overview which will hopefully give students an opportunity to explore a non-Western culture and encourage further study of the beauty of Japan. Instructor lived in Hokkaido (northern Japan) for three years.
